Trying to show it down cheap but they shove...two hands for you to analyze

Hand 1: Villain had just moved to the table as a short stack and more than doubled by over shoving all in with AQ and got called by KQ. No other reads. The flop min raise worried me so I just called to see the pot to the river hopefully relatively cheaply, but then he shoves the river. Thoughts?

Hand 2: Villain has been playing very aggressively and overbetting a lot of hands. Sadly, he has not shown much down so I don't know a whole lot except that he can't have a hand every time...right? Again, I wanted to keep the pot small here and see the river, and on the river he shoves. Thoughts?

Hand 1: Re-raise the flop for definite. You're only worried about 44 and there are loads of draws/worse made hands he can have. Raise the turn when it comes blank (K8/K6/K4 unlikely). The river is tough as it may have made him a better 2 pair. It could also have made him top pair if he was on the nut flush draw and he may be pushing this. It's tough on the river - a fold might be lower variance but I think there's a decent chance you have the best hand here too.

Hand 2: I'd definitely call this. He's likely to have AT or a missed spade draw. He might have the 9 or 22 but I think he would bet less with these to tempt you in. I probably bet the turn here as a draw/worse hand that he'll call with is very possible.

Its always tuff calling these river shoves with OP or bottom two but I think this is where having a feel for your opponent pays and where a lot of money is left on the table due to folding in fear of variance. Both hands look like busted draws that resorted to shoving as a desperation play to win the pot. I think you should 3 bet hand 1 on the flop and find out then and there where you stand. Hand 2 I either bet and fold to a shove or I am check calling. So I think a river call is standard.

Hand 1. I agree with dodgyken. Reraise the flop, and see what he does. Your only scared of pock 4 for the set and it's very unlikely that he has it.

He could have top pair, overpair or a flush draw. On the turn, gotta reraise this and get it all in.

As played, i'll call the river because your hand is disguised and the river A is a major scare card that he is using.

Hand 2. I agree with dodgyken. As played, I call the river shove because it looks like a bluff or A10o that is looking for value. Plus, you have him as an aggressor player who is probably bluffing when you show weakness.

However, I think you gotta bet the turn because there is a str8 draw out there.

If the river blanks, it's possible to check to induce a river bluff based on your read.

H1: Reraising the flop makes the rest of the hand easier to play.

H2: I think this hand is going to be one to look back on after reading the new 2+2 NL cash book coming out this weekend. If you look in the TOC there looks to be lots of discussion on how and when you're committed to a pot. Seems to me if you call the turn bet here, you're more or less obligated to call the river.

Hand 2: I also c-bet more on the flop, pot's ~$2.2 after the rake, so c-bet $2. The board is pretty bad with the draws.

I'm also wondering if betting the turn is better.
